I never ever EVER update my home page. The last time I updated it was in 2005. At that time, what happened is that I accidentally blew it away, and so I went to the wayback machine. And found an old copy. That copy was from 1998. I restored it and said I was done. And now its 2012. And I still find that my homepage has essentially not been updated since 1998. Time to give up.
